Accounting Intern | Mauldin & Jenkins

The Tone:
This is an internship at Mauldin & Jenkins, located in Raleigh, NC. Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC is an accounting firm seeking candidates for its internship program. This role offers the opportunity to work in the field or office on client engagements spanning audits, management services, and tax preparation. The intern will develop essential technical skills and professional qualifications while supporting the firm’s commitment to clients in a technologically advanced and friendly environment.

• Mission: This intern will support the firm’s client services by assisting with audit, management service, and tax engagements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate: Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
• Prepare: Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Examine: Examine client reconciliations of bank accounts and subsidiary accounts, investigating discrepancies.
• Schedule: Schedule computations of accruals and document their underlying support.
• Review: Review data input, identify and resolve technical tax issues, and assist in the review of tax preparations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting; Entry-Level.
• Experience: No prior professional experience explicitly required; overnight travel may be necessary.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; well-rounded knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and federal/state income tax laws; accuracy in dealing with numeric and alphabetic information; proficiency in using firm manuals and computer software.
