This is a summer internship at UL Solutions, located in Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL. As a Finance/Accounting/Tax Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations and strategic initiatives, contributing directly to UL Solutions’ mission of protecting people and the planet.

• Pay: $25 hourly
• Team: Works within various finance and accounting teams, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, and Controllership, while also joining a community of finance and accounting interns.
• Mission: This person will support financial operations, analysis, and reporting to contribute to the company’s financial success and mission.
• Tech Stack: MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point), business ERPs (Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial system data to explain performance variances, develop business cases for investments, and assess impacts of business process changes.
• Planning & Forecasting: Contribute to the development of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans by managing inputs, compiling data, and investigating variations from expected outcomes.
• Accounting & Reporting: Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries, assist in financial report preparation through data collection and analysis, and perform account reconciliations.
• Process Improvement: Work on projects to improve efficiency, service levels, and reduce costs for shared service processes such as credit, billing, collections, cash applications, and accounts payable.
• Strategic Support: Support business case development, due diligence, and integration processes for company acquisitions, and assist project managers in improving ROI on key capital investments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Rising senior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a similar area. Entry-Level.
• Experience: Working knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting through education or internship experience.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and interpret information from diverse sources; proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).
• Bonus: Experience working with business ERPs (Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus.
