General Accountant | Group 1 Automotive

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Group 1 Automotive, with three days in the office in Houston, TX, and two days remote. Group 1 Automotive is a Fortune 250 leader in global automotive retail, operating over 250 dealerships and collision centers across the United States and United Kingdom. This General Accountant role is an essential accounting position, responsible for critical accounting posting and balance sheet clearance for all Group 1 Automotive stores in the United States.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Daily Review: Oversee all items in the Activation queue to ensure products are active and accounting entries are correct.
• Financial Reconciliation: Perform comprehensive factory and floorplan reconciliations at month-end to maintain accurate financial records.
• Transaction Posting: Post daily banking activity and various monthly statements or invoices from vehicle manufacturers for assigned dealerships.
• Statement Processing: Handle the posting of monthly and weekly finance and insurance product statements, as well as monthly finance reserve statements from lenders.
• Account Management: Assist in maintaining various balance sheet account schedules, processing PID errors, and reviewing the Loaner queue.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Skills: Ability to work extended hours at month-end.
• Bonus: Prior dealership accounting experience; Experience using CDK.
