What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage reinsurance accounting functions: Maintain accounting within reinsurance systems, post cash transactions, and prepare premium and claims adjustments.
• Handle financial transactions: Process reinsurance payments and wire transfers.
• Ensure financial accuracy: Reconcile general ledger, escrow, and bank accounts.
• Support financial reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and assist with month-end closing activities including journal entries.
• Facilitate audits and collaboration: Prepare financial reports, compile supporting documentation for audits, and collaborate with internal departments and external business partners.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience, combined with coursework or professional experience in accounting.
• Experience: Coursework or professional experience in accounting is required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and commit to a hybrid work schedule of at least 3 days per week in the St. Louis Corporate Office.
• Skills: Excellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively; dependable, motivated, and adaptable; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Outlook.
• Bonus: One or more years of relevant accounting experience, especially in the insurance industry or with reinsurance accounting (ceded/assumed, LPTs, fronting business). Familiarity with accounting/insurance systems (PeopleSoft, Freedom, SICs, ClaimCenter), experience reconciling various accounts, preparing journal entries, processing financial transactions, supporting month-end closing, and knowledge of financial reporting and audit documentation.
