Accountant Intern | Palomar Products, Inc.

The Tone:
This is an onsite internship at Palomar Products, Inc., located in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Palomar Products is a wholly owned subsidiary of TransDigm Group, specializing in secure communication systems for military applications, including airborne and naval platforms. Founded in 1970, the company is a global leader in highly reliable secure intercommunication systems. This role is crucial for supporting the Finance department by performing entry-level tasks that ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial information.

The TL;DR

• Mission: This intern will ensure timely and accurate processing of financial information by assisting with various accounting tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Inbox Management: Monitor and maintain the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) inboxes, including responding to routine inquiries.
• Data Reconciliation: Assist with reconciling labor data between two internal systems, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy.
• Cash Activity Reporting: Update the daily and weekly cash activity report with current transactions.
• Variance Research: Research variances within cash, labor, or other assigned accounts and summarize findings.
• Journal Entry Preparation: Prepare basic journal entries under supervision and support month-end close activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Basic proficiency with Excel.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to communicate clearly and professionally via email; strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to investigate variances.
