Assurance Intern – Summer 2028 | BDO USA
The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Atlanta, GA. BDO is a firm providing assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world. As an intern, you will begin to apply your academic knowledge and organizational abilities, directly contributing to the firm’s client base. This role offers a hands-on perspective on our practices, people, and the opportunity to build relationships crucial for career development.

• Mission: To utilize educational background and organizational skills to assist the firm’s clients in the Assurance practice, gaining hands-on experience.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), along with BDO’s specific audit methodology.
• Audit Support: Provide various support functions to audit staff during engagement processes.
• Client Interaction: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO-specific tools and templates.
• Research: Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting; actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting; Leadership experience; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to follow instructions as directed; Ability to work effectively in a team setting; Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
