This Staff Accountant role is crucial for managing lease accounting and ensuring the accurate reporting of financials in compliance with US GAAP. Your expertise will directly contribute to the overall accuracy of Welltower’s portfolio, supporting compliance and driving operational efficiency.

• Mission: Owns the accurate management of lease accounting and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage lease agreements: Oversee the setup and maintenance of lease agreements within Yardi to ensure complete and timely recognition of revenue.
• Develop rent schedules: Create, update, and maintain rent schedules precisely reflecting the legal terms of each lease agreement.
• Establish recovery schedules: Set up operating expense recovery schedules to properly accommodate the terms of each agreement.
• Perform financial analysis: Analyze and reconcile income statement and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Support audits: Facilitate all requests from both internal and external auditors specifically regarding lease documentation and financial data.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; this is an Entry-Level career opportunity.
• Experience: 0-3 years of accounting experience, with previous internships being preferred.
• Skills: US GAAP compliance, lease document abstraction and analysis, financial reporting, account reconciliation.
• Bonus: Previous internships in an accounting capacity.
